
Mayabunder, April 12: The concluding ceremony of a 15-day Cane & Bamboo Training Programme was held at G.P. Chainpur yesterday. The training was organized under the DAY-NRLM Scheme by the CD Block, Mayabunder, and imparted by the Industries Department, Bakultala. A total of 30 Self Help Group (SHG) members participated in the training, where they were equipped with various skills related to bamboo handicrafts aimed at enhancing their livelihood opportunities and promoting self-employment.
During the closing ceremony, Shri S. R. Vikas, Industries Promotion Officer, attended as the chief guest. Shri Pratap Golder, Technical Assistant, and Shri Sukanta Biswas, Cluster Coordinator (DAY-NRLM), were also present on the occasion. The dignitaries appreciated the participants for their active involvement and encouraged them to utilize the acquired skills for income generation and sustainable livelihood development. The training programme was conducted from 27th March to 10th April, 2026 under the supervision of Shri Bijoy Ganguly, Instructor (Cane & Bamboo).
Shri Johnson Kerketta, Pradhan, G.P. Chainpur, delivered the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the distribution of gifts to the participants and a demonstration of the bamboo handicraft items prepared during the training period.
