Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 30: In pursuance of the directions issued by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, during his recent visit to Shaheed Dweep on September 27 and 28, the Tourism Department has initiated measures to enhance tourist convenience through improved transportation and seating facilities.
The Department has invited tenders for the deployment of battery-operated golf carts at the jetty to facilitate the movement of tourists and passengers between the point of embarkation/disembarkation and the main gate of the jetty. The proposed facility is aimed at ensuring ease of commuting and providing greater convenience to visitors, particularly elderly passengers, families with children and those carrying luggage.
As part of the initiative to improve beach amenities, adequate number of benches, including benches with attached tables and standalone benches, have been installed at various beaches of Shaheed Dweep. The facilities are intended to provide comfortable seating for tourists and enable them to enjoy their time at the beaches.
