Students of remote areas experience the thrill of the Torch

Diglipur, Aug 26: Embodying the Islands’ history, rich biodiversity and ecological resilience, the “Flame of Fitness” torch today completed its journey in Diglipur, reaching the northernmost school — Govt. Primary School, Lamiya Bay — this afternoon.
The young students of the school had been eagerly awaiting its arrival. As the torch approached the campus, the children enthusiastically raised slogans of “Har Gali, Har Maidan – Khele Sara Hindustan,” filling the atmosphere with excitement.
The visiting Nodal Officer of the Torch-Relay campaign for the district, Shri V. Ranjit Kumar, praised the teachers on witnessing the zeal among the students for sports. Receiving the torch from DEO (In-Charge) Dr. Pushpavalli to carry it to Sri Vijay Puram, he said, “The warmth which the Relay team has received from all sections of society in this rural region of Diglipur is absolutely amazing. Apart from the student fraternity, the PRI representatives, parents, and villagers have all shown very encouraging gestures in adopting good health and fitness. This experience in Diglipur has been truly historical for our Relay team.”
Earlier in the morning, the torch was handed over by Principal of Swaraj Gram School, Shri Balbir Singh, to Dr. Pushpavalli, Principal of GSSS Diglipur. Passing through the main Subhash Gram Bazar, the torch was brought to the school, where students presented a cultural programme and spoke about the importance of sports and fitness.
The Relay then moved on to Vivekananda Stadium, where the Chief Guest, Dr. S.H.K. Murty, Divisional Forest Officer, addressed the gathering. He urged the students to “include sports in their daily routine, while maintaining a balance with their studies.”
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pushpavalli expressed her appreciation for the Administration, saying, “This wonderful concept of the Torch-Relay is creating awareness in every corner of the Islands.” The programme at the stadium was attended by ACF Shri S.K. Roy, Pradhan Shri P.R. Singaram, PRI representatives, and a large number of local residents.
The Chief Guest then handed over the torch to Principal of PM SHRI GSSS Subhash Gram, Smti Kakoli Dey, who, accompanied by the Pradhan and students, proceeded with the Relay. Students lined both sides of the road, clapping and shouting slogans, as the school band led the procession. Several students also displayed their sporting skills along the roadside, showcasing their enthusiasm and inclination towards sports.
After a brief halt at Subhash Gram School, the Relay resumed its journey, passing through Vivekananda Vidyalaya, VS Palli, Keralpuram, Ariel Bay, Durgapur, Shibpur, Kalipur, and finally reaching Primary School, Lamiya Bay, the northernmost school of Diglipur.
