
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 16: The Bal Chess Utsav 2025 – School Chess Championship, organised by the Department of Education in collaboration with the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA), concluded yesterday at the ITI Campus, Dollygunj. The two-day tournament, held as part of the Children’s Day celebrations, witnessed an overwhelming participation of around 400 budding players across six categories viz Under 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 19.
Shri Gyan Sheel Dubey, Head of Office, Department of Education, graced the prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest, while Smt. Archana Singh, DDE (Planning), attended the event as the guest of honour.
The championship concluded with the following young talents emerging victorious across the different categories. In the Under-19 Girls category, Saranaya A V secured the first position, followed by Nandini in second place and T Raja Laxmi in third. The Under-19 Boys section saw Yuvan Singh clinch the top spot, while V. Yashwant and J S Virat finished second and third respectively.
Among the Under-15 Girls, Chittiboina Mageswari emerged as the champion, with N Rashika taking second place and Mahalakshmi M A securing third. In the Under-15 Boys category, B Lalith stood first, followed by R. Tejass in second position and Ronnie Ronaldo Y in third. The Under-13 Girls event witnessed S Sarisha taking the top rank, while K. Mahi and A. V. Shreya finished second and third.
In the Under-13 Boys division, K. Jaivardhan Rao claimed first place, with Roshan A (Bhaskar) securing second and Sharad A taking third. The Under-11 Girls category was led by Bhavishya S in the first position, followed by Agrima Singh and G. Disha Meenakshi in second and third positions respectively. In the Under-11 Boys, Rohan Singh emerged champion, while B Hari Prasad and Ashmit Kumar followed as second and third.
The Under-9 Girls category, K Hemanshi secured first place, with D Charvi and N Shreenika taking second and third positions. In the Under-9 Boys, Saw Jinson Samuel clinched the first spot, followed by Vignesh B in second and S Eshaan in third. Among the youngest participants, the Under-7 Girls category was led by Shayoni Mandal in first place, with Rudrani S and N. Danusri finishing second and third. Finally, in the Under-7 Boys event, M. Ritwik emerged victorious, while S Medhansh and K Jaiwant secured the second and third places respectively.
