
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 19: With full ceremonial honours and an atmosphere of pride and gratitude, a Farewell Parade was organized today, i.e. on 19.05.2026, at the Police Lines Parade Ground in honour of Shri Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, IPS, Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, on the occasion of his transfer back to Delhi after rendering more than 21 months of distinguished service in the Islands since assuming charge on 26.08.2024.
The ceremonial parade reflected the deep respect and admiration of the entire Police fraternity towards Shri H.S. Dhaliwal for his dynamic leadership, people-friendly policing, and welfare-oriented administration during his tenure in A&N Police.
A total of seven platoons comprising Executive Police (Male & Female), IRBn, Fire & Emergency Services, Home Guard Organization, along with two Police Bands namely the Male Brass Band and Ladies Pipe Band, participated in the Farewell Parade. The parade was commanded by Shri Naveen Kumar, Assistant Commandant, IRBn. Senior Police Officers from the rank of IGP to Dy.SP, along with personnel from various units of the Department, attended the function.
Addressing the gathering, Shri H.S. Dhaliwal conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the people of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and all ranks of A&N Police. He fondly recalled his memorable tenure in the Islands and appreciated the professionalism, discipline, and dedication of A&N Police personnel, particularly those serving in remote islands, difficult terrains, and challenging operational locations. He specially acknowledged the tireless efforts of police personnel posted in remote islands, difficult terrains, and challenging operational locations, who continue to discharge their duties with unwavering dedication despite numerous hardships.
Highlighting the major achievements during his tenure, Shri Dhaliwal mentioned the intensified crackdown against narcotics, bootlegging, drug peddling, drunken driving, and illegal immigration, besides strengthening community outreach, discipline, and transparency in Police Administration. He also highlighted several important welfare initiatives including grant of two promotional upgradations on completion of 15 and 25 years of service, improvement of police residential infrastructure and welfare facilities, reduction of LOP Guard tenure for the welfare of personnel posted in remote areas, and the first-ever installation of Solar Power systems at all Look-Out Posts (LOPs) to improve living and operational conditions.
The DGP expressed his sincere gratitude to all officers and personnel of A&N Police for their wholehearted cooperation and dedicated service, which made his tenure successful and memorable. He stated that the traditions, unity, discipline, and people-friendly image of A&N Police would always remain close to his heart.
In his concluding remarks, Shri Dhaliwal appealed to all police personnel to continue discharging their duties with utmost dedication, professionalism, integrity, and sincerity so as to take A&N Police to greater heights in public service and policing excellence.
The ceremonial farewell concluded with a deep sense of respect and emotion as officers and personnel bid farewell to a widely admired leader whose tenure left a lasting impact on the force and the Islands.
