Sri Vijaya Puram, July 4: In a proactive measure to enhance environmental safety and compliance, the Andaman & Nicobar Pollution Control Committee (ANPCC), under the Department of Science & Technology, hosted a comprehensive training session on 01.07.2025 for senior veterinary officers across the Islands. The workshop focused on Bio Medical Waste (BMW) disposal protocols and the mandatory processes for instituting veterinary facilities’ registration and authorization in accordance with Bio-Medical Waste and its Management Rule 2016.
The session underscored the necessity of timely application submission to ANPCC at Dollygunj, Sri Vijaya Puram and ANPCC officials explained the procedure for Consent to Operate (CTO), essential for veterinary institutions under environmental regulations. Workshops guided SVOs on fee structures, documentation, and deadlines. Representative from ANPCC, Shri Raj Babu clarified the environmental safeguards enacted under the BMW Rules 2016.
ANPCC reaffirmed its ongoing support through technical assistance, expert guidance, and follow-up inspections. This initiative marks a significant milestone in aligning Veterinary Services in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands with national environmental mandates.
