Awareness Programme Organised to Observe World Thalassemia and Hemophilia Day

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 18: As part of the observance of World Thalassemia and Hemophilia Day, a comprehensive awareness programme was conducted at Tagore Government College of Education for B.Ed. students. The theme of the session was ‘Understanding Various Disabilities under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016 – Towards an Inclusive Society’.

This initiative aimed to equip future educators with knowledge of the 21 benchmark disabilities recognized under the RPwD Act, including Thalassemia and Hemophilia, and empower them to foster an inclusive, supportive, and barrier-free learning environment.

The session was jointly facilitated by the team from Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Andaman & Nicobar Islands.  Shri T.Y. Abid, Lecturer in Physiotherapy enlightened the gathering on 21 benchmark disabilities under RPwD Act 2016 and various Rehabilitation Courses recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India. Smti Saranyah.R.K, Rehabilitation Officer highlighted the ‘Role of Educators towards inclusive society and classroom accommodations’.
