Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 27: Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Andaman & Nicobar State Committee has decided to extend full support to the All India Strike called by the United Forum Bank Unions (UFBU) from 28th to 30th September, 2026. In a resolution adopted in the CITU Andaman & Nicobar State Committee meeting held at Port Blair today (27.09.2026), CITU asked the central government to initiate discussions with the Bank Unions to resolve their demands.
The bank employees and officers all over the country are going for the total strike to protest government’s various anti-employee policies. The bank unions have demanded (1) 5-day banking (2) Withdraw Government’s unilateral and discriminatory PLI Scheme, (3) Adequate recruitment of staff (4) Conversion of NPS to OPS (5) Income Tax exemption on 4% extra NPS contribution by banks, (6) Increase in Gratuity ceiling, (7) Pension updation and uniform DA (8) Ex-gratia revision for pre-November 2022 pensioners and extension to private banks (9) Filling up of Workman and Officer Director posts (10) Banks to bear premium on Medical Insurance Policy for retirees, etc.
