Community Awareness Programme Organised at Nancowry as Part of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

Nancowry, June 25: As part of the observance of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is commemorated globally on 26th June, a community awareness programme was organized at Community Health Centre (CHC) Nancowry today. The programme featured a socially impactful skit, performed by healthcare staff, illustrating the dangers of drug dependency and its consequences on families and society.

The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from Medical Officers, Nursing and support staff, and members of the local tribal community, including Tribal Captains. To further spread the message, informative slogans and banners were displayed across the health facility and nearby public spaces, emphasizing the importance of a drug-free and healthy society.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. (Lt. Col.) Nirmal Kumar Bajpai, Medical Officer In-Charge reiterated the commitment of CHC Nancowry towards preventive healthcare and community engagement, stressing the critical role of awareness and education in combating the growing challenge of drug abuse.

The programme concluded with a pledge-taking ceremony, where all attendees committed themselves to support de-addiction efforts and promote a culture of health, responsibility, and resilience.
