Speakers Highlight His Vision for Education, Simplicity and Selfless Public Service
Diglipur, July 17: The birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Karmaveerar Shri K. Kamaraj, one of India’s most revered freedom fighters and visionary statesmen, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence at Diglipur on Tuesday.
The programme was jointly organised by the Nadar Uravinmurai Sangam, Port Blair and Diglipur, in association with Tamizhar Sangam, Diglipur. Students, community members and people from different walks of life participated in large numbers to pay homage to the legendary leader.
The celebration began with the offering of floral tributes to the portrait of K. Kamaraj, followed by speeches recalling his outstanding contributions to education, social justice, rural development and nation-building. Speakers highlighted how his far-sighted educational reforms transformed the lives of millions of children and earned him a permanent place in the nation’s history. His simple lifestyle, honesty and unwavering commitment to public service were remembered as ideals worthy of emulation.
Addressing the gathering, Subhash Gram Panchayat Pradhan Shri P.R. Singaram spoke on the life and legacy of K. Kamaraj. He described the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu as a visionary leader who believed that education was the key to social transformation and stressed that his policies continue to inspire generations across the country.
Renowned businessman Shri L.N. Raju also paid rich tributes to the late leader. He highlighted Kamaraj’s integrity, humility and selfless service, and urged the younger generation to follow his ideals by contributing positively to society.
As part of the celebrations, the management of Government Primary School, Subhashgram, distributed sweets among the children, adding to the festive spirit of the occasion.
The organisers expressed their gratitude to all the dignitaries, students, volunteers and members of the public for their wholehearted support in making the celebration a grand success.
