
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 13: The Andaman & Nicobar PRI Karmachari Sangh (CITU) has conducted Mass Demonstration all over the islands demanding grant of 1/30th of pay plus DA to all the daily rated mazdoors working in the Gram Panchayats and regularization of services. The main programme was held before the Directorate of RD & PRI at Marine Hill, Port Blair in which a large number of DRMs of Gram Panchayats of South Andaman rural areas participated. Inaugurating the Mass Demonstration, B. Chandrachoodan, President of the PRI Karmachari Sangh criticized the A & N Administration for denying the 1/30th of pay benefits to hundreds of DRMs working in the Gram Panchayats. He said that despite a favourable High Court order in the matter, the Administration continues to deny the said benefit to the DRMs. Addressing the massive gathering, R. Surendran Pillai, General Secretary of the A&N PRI Karmachari Sangh said that the Union will continue to organise similar agitation in the coming days if the Administration do not extend the 1/30th of pay plus DA benefit to the DRMs working in Gram Panchayats across the union territory. CITU Secretaries SP Kalairajan and Anand Rajan and Asmat Ali, Krishna Rao and CH Jogulu of PRI Karmachari Sangh led the mass demonstration.
At Great Nicobar, the mass demonstration was held in front of the office of the Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay in which all the DRMs working in the Gram Panchayats of Great Nicobar participated. The Mass Demonstration was addressed by A. Lawrence and led by Amit and Vinod of the PRI Karmachari Sangh.
At Little Andaman, workers took out a procession at Hut Bay bazaar which culminated in the Mass Demonstration before the Tehsildar’s office at Hut Bay in which a large number of DRMs working in the Gram Panchyats of Little Andaman participated. CITU leader MA Karim and Viju of PRI Karmachari Sangh addressed the participants in the programme.
At Swarajdweep, mass demonstration was organised before the Assistant Commissioner’s office which was addressed by Parimal Samaddar and Sabita Mani Kumari.
At Diglipur, mass demonstration was organised in front of the office of the Assistant Commissioner. CITU leaders Sunil Bepari and Barun Biswas and PRI Karmachari Sangh leader Shivkumar addressed the participants in the programme.
