‘Harit Yoga’ Events Organised at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs to Mark the 11th International Day of Yoga

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 15: To mark the 11th International Day of Yoga, the Directorate of Health Services and the A & N State AYUSH Society, in collaboration with the Forest Department, organized ‘Harit Yoga’ events at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (Ayush) at Teylerabad and Guptapara. These events combined yoga sessions with tree plantation and clean-up drives, promoting both health and environmental conservation. Approximately, 55 participants took part in these activities.

Other events included Park Yoga Sessions at Nature Park, Wildlife Division, Haddo, and Marina Park, which allowed participants to connect with nature while practicing yoga. The Y-Break sessions were held for Govt. Officials at various Departments of A&N Administration. A special yoga session for antenatal mothers was held at G.B. Pant Hospital, along with an Inter-College Quiz Competition among students.

Summer Yoga Camps for children were organized across the Islands to promote a healthy lifestyle and overall well-being. Additionally, a Training of Trainers (ToT) program on the Common Yoga Protocol was conducted at the Yoga Unit, AYUSH Hospital, aimed at strengthening yoga instruction capacities among staff members from various departments. A special Yoga session for girl children was conducted at Pranab Kalyan Ashram. The signature event ‘Yoga Samavesh’ was held at CRC Brookshabad and Abhyudaya Complex, Ferrargunj, catering to Divyangjan, senior citizens, and children, promoting yoga as a tool for holistic well-being for all.

A Beach Yoga Session was held at Wandoor Beach, involving the villagers providing an opportunity to connect with nature and foster a deeper appreciation for the environment. The calming effects of the ocean and the peaceful surroundings significantly helped reduce stress levels.

These initiatives aim to promote wellness, environmental stewardship, and community engagement through the practice of yoga, apart from creating momentum for upcoming IDY on 21st June, 2025.
