Port Blair, Jan 13: The Science Centre, Port Blair will be organizing a sky show tomorrow (Jan.14) from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm. The programme to be presented include a description of the Planet- Jupiter & its satellites. Visitors will be provided with a Sky map of the sky over Port Blair for locating planets and other celestial bodies. They can have the opportunity of viewing the Planet- Jupiter & its moons popularly known as Galilean Moons called Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. The entry fee for the sky observation is Rs.10/- for each person.

Port Blair, Jan 13: The road from Dollygunj Jn. to DBRAIT will be closed for all the vehicle movements for 04 days w.e.f 14.01.2023 to 17.01.2023. Hence, all the vehicles will be diverted through adjacent road i.e. ICMR to Bhathubasti Water Treatment Unit Road.

Port Blair, Jan 12: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS arrived on a two-day visit to Shaheed Dweep today. On arrival at the Shaheed Dweep Helipad, the Chief Secretary was accorded a warm welcome by the Gram Panchayat Pradhan, Shaheed Dweep, Ms. Pinkey Das, Zilla Parishad Member, Shaheed Dweep, Shri Dashrath Verma, Pramukh Panchayat Samiti, Port Blair, Ms. Champa Das, Officers of different Departments of Shaheed Dweep and others.

Port Blair, Jan 12: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Defence Minister of India to conduct regular recruitment drives of Army, Navy and Air Force in Andaman & Nicobar Islands so that Islands youths, who grow up with the dream of serving our Nation can join Indian Armed Forces and serve our country.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Defence Minister of India, New Delhi, he mentioned that this is a matter of extreme pride that a large number of youths from Andaman & Nicobar Islands are either serving the armed forces in different ranks or have retired after serving 15 to 20 years in Defence Services. “Many youths of these Islands have raised to very high rank in Defence Forces to make Andaman proud while there are many Heroes of Andaman, who have made supreme sacrifice while protecting our country,” he mentioned.

Port Blair, Jan 12: Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon'ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency will be on a 4 days visit to Little Andaman and Kamorta via Car Nicobar from Jan.13. The Lt Governor will depart for Little Andaman on Jan.13 and will hold meeting with PRI members, Govt. Officials and general public at APWD Guest House on Jan.14 at 9.30 am. Thereafter, he will inspect tourism infrastructure and visit waterfall site, Kalapathar Beach and Butler Bay Beach. Later in the afternoon, Hon’ble Lt Governor will be on windshield tour of Hut Bay upto 22 km and visit Chattan Beach.
