Port Blair, Jan 12: The Former State President, BJP, Shri Vishal Jolly has requested for relaxation and exemption to obtain fitness certificate of commercial vehicle without late fee through his letter addressed to Chief Secretary, A & N Administration.

In his letter he stated that as per the new Motor Vehicle Act 2021 the penalty or fine for not having a valid fitness certificate for a commercial vehicle is Rs. 50/- has been imposed per day by the transport authority while obtaining a fresh fitness certificate.

Port Blair, Jan 12: The 35th Convocation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is likely to be held in the month of March/April, 2022. The online registration is open now.  Students who have completed their Programmes in December - 2020 or June-2021 Term-End-Examinations are eligible for award of original Certificate at this Convocation. 

It is a matter of pride that India has remained free of wild polio cases since January, 2011. India’s unprecedented progress against Polio has led to its certification as Polio free by WHO in March, 2014 and recently we have celebrated 25th Year of Pulse Polio Immunization in India. For protection against re-introduction of Polio virus, the National Immunization Day for Polio is being organized on 23rd January, 2022, covering all the children in the age group of 0-5 years.

Port Blair, Jan. 12: During the RT-PCR test conducted on 246 passengers who arrived here yesterday, 61 positive cases have been detected. Today, 14 flights with 829 passengers arrived, out of which, 600 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 223 passengers (includes 2 foreign travelers) and the reports are awaited.  During RAT conducted on 52 passengers bound for North & Middle Andaman at Ferrargunj, no positive case has been detected. At Mohanpura Bus Terminus, test was conducted on 52 passengers and all were found negative.  At Phoenix Bay Jetty, 41 passengers were tested with RAT and no positive cases have been detected. At Helipad, 8 passengers were tested with RAT and all were found negative.
