Port Blair, Oct. 2: Four COVID positive cases have been detected today in A&N Islands, of which, 3 were from incoming flight passengers who arrived here yesterday. Today, 15 flights with 2593 passengers arrived, out of which, 2269 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 294 passengers and the reports are awaited.  

Shri Man Singh, S/o Madan Singh, R/o Prothrapur, Port Blair, an employee of APWD breathed his last today at 8.30 am at Pillar Hospital after prolonged illness. He was 59. He is survived by his wife Smti Vibha Singh, daughters Smti Deepika Singh, Smti Monika Singh and Sister Vindiya Kumari. The funeral of the departed was held today at Prothrapur Cemetery in the afternoon hours.

Port Blair, Sept. 30: The leaders of the various political parties, after holding a meeting at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali, Port Blair yesterday (29.09.2022) evening, observed with grave concern that force was used by the police on unarmed and peacefully agitating students of DBRAIT at Dairy Farm junction on 28th September, 2022. 

Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI(M) has deeply condole the passing away of Comrade Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Polit Bureau Member of the CPI (M) and former Kerala Minister at a hospital at Chennai today (1.10.2022) night. He was 68 years. He was not keeping well for quite some time.  He was one of the tallest leaders of the party. Along with other party leaders, Com. Kodiyeri was also jailed during the Emergency period. His death is a great loss to the Communist movement in the country.  I convey my heartfelt condolences to the family members of Comrade Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.  

Social Worker Rasheed Requests Chief Secretary to Provide Health Care Assistance to Remaining Students at Home

Port Blair, Sept. 30: On 16th Sept. 2022 many students of Model Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair studying in Middle and Secondary level had complained of severe pain and acute headache with vomiting tendency after some mass drug (suspected) was administered to them in school. The students were rushed to the GB Pant Hospital for immediate medical check-up and treatment. After a day of observation, all the students were discharged from hospital declaring them perfect and cured from the illness.
