Port Blair, April 11: Public Hearing for preparation of Draft Island Coastal Regulation Zone (ICRZ) Plan of Middle Andaman is scheduled to be held on 17-04-2023 at 11 AM at Pokadera Community Hall. In this regard, suggestions were invited from public and other stakeholders within a period of 30 days of the publication and also soft copies of the Maps were made available in the Office of the Chairman, ANCZMA (Chief Secretary, A&N Administration), Member Secretary, ANCZMA [APCCF(CRZ&FC)], Van Sadan, Haddo, Deputy Commissioner(North and Middle Andaman), Assistant Commissioner (Rangat (Middle Andaman), Mayabunder), Tehsildar (Rangat, Mayabunder), Member Secretary (Pollution Control Committee), Director (Tribal Welfare), Divisional Forest Officer (Middle Andaman, Mayabunder) and Range Officer (Karmatang, Mayabunder, Tugapur.

Port Blair, April 10: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to declare the Car Nicobar Defence Airfield as an alternative airport to the Port Blair Airport.

“Alternate Airports” are airports that are marked along an aircraft's flight plan that can safely accommodate the landing of the aircraft should the aircraft experience an emergency or if the landing at the intended airport becomes inadvisable.

Port Blair, April 10: Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ACCI) has submitted various representations to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, requesting his intervention to resolve several issues that are hampering the economic growth of the Islands and adversely impacting various sectors such as trade, commerce, tourism, hospitality etc. However, despite the several representations / requests over the last 6 years, no action has been taken in this regard. On the contrary, several unfair decisions such as substantial increase in circle rate, registration charges, power tariff have occurred over the last many years. It is extremely important to resolve these issues which will take the islands on the path of progress and development like the rest of India.

Port Blair, April 10: The Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) conducted a large scale Joint Military Exercise ‘Ex KAVACH’ involving assets of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. The exercise was aimed at fine-tuning joint warfare capabilities and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and enhancing interoperability and operational synergy between the participating forces. Elements of the ‘Shatrujeet Brigade’ of the Army, Armed Forces Special Operations Division (AFSOD), Special Forces of the Navy and Amphibious troops of the ANC, participated in the multi-domain exercise involving amphibious landing, air-landed operations, heliborne operations, and rapid insertion of the Special Forces from mainland on a remote Island of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
