Port Blair, June 18: The BSNL network tower at Katchal has been dysfunctional since the past one week, cutting off the island from the rest of the world. There have been complaints from the islanders but the efforts to rectify the fault seems to be minimum.

Port Blair, June 18: To fight against the drug abuse and illicit trafficking every year 26th June is observed as “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” and to provide impetus to these efforts various programmes are organised to make citizens aware about the menace of drug abuse and illicit trafficking. This year’s theme for 26th June is “Campaign against Drugs”.

Port Blair, June 18: South Andaman Police once again proved their efficiency and efforts to curb down the illegal activities from the societies; the teams of District Special Police Squad, PS Aberdeen and PS Chatham arrested sixteen persons under A&N Islands Gambling Regulation, 1951 and for violation of social distancing norms on 16th June, 2020 with recovery of more than 04 Lakhs rupees.

Port Blair, June 18: The Port Blair Municipal Council is maintaining 74.00 Km of road stretches under its jurisdiction of 24 wards. Apart from providing other basic civic amenities to the citizens of Port Blair, PBMC has taken-up the initiative to resurface/ revamp the existing roads falling under its jurisdiction, across 24 Wards. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, GOI has sanctioned Rs 3342.95 Lakhs under Central Road Fund (CRF) Scheme for taking up 38.79 Kms of Road Works.
