Police Station Kalighat Adjudged 6th Best Police Station in the Country

Port Blair, Dec. 3: Under the steadfast leadership, vision and dynamism of the Director General of Police, A&N Islands, Shri. Dependra Pathak, IPS and strategic planning and sustained efforts of Sh. Madhup Kumar Tiwari, IPS, Addl. Director General of Police,  Kalighat Police Station under the North and Middle Andaman District has been ranked as the 6th best Police Station in India by Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI. The A&N Police has acquired a unique distinction of ranking best Police Station for three consecutive years in a row. In 2018, Campbell Bay and in 2019, Aberdeen Police Station were declared as best Police Station of the country. This amply reflects the overall quality of service delivery by the A&N Police. All this could have been possible due to proactive support of the Hon’ble LG and Chief Secretary of A&N Islands.

Port Blair, Dec. 3: The fourth of December is celebrated every year as the Navy Day. The day has great significance in the history of the Nation and Indian Navy as it marks a decisive victory for India when the Missile boats of the Indian Navy during Operation Trident, in the 1971 India-Pak War, successfully fired their missiles onto ships, oil installation and shore defence installations of Pakistan at Karachi. During the 1971 operations, the Indian Navy sunk many Pakistani ships carrying war sustenance efforts and critical stores. The fighter aircraft from the deck of INS Vikrant, struck at the enemy harbours and airfield at Chittagong and Khulna, destroying ships, Defence facilities and installations. Both the Missile strikes at Karachi and air attacks from Vikrant led to the defeat Pakistani Forces in East Pakistan.

Scheme to be Available in All FPS by 15th Dec.

Port Blair, Dec. 3: One Nation One Ration Card is the scheme introduced by the Government of India to provide highly subsidized food grains to the people covered under National Food Security Act 2013. As per this scheme the beneficiaries can obtain their entitled quota of food grains from any Fair Price Shop in the country through National Portability. This is an important step towards strengthening the National objective of ensuring food security to the people. This will ensure food security to the beneficiaries who migrate from one place to another or during national disaster/pandemic like COVID which affects the movement of people to different places in the country.

Port Blair, Dec. 3: V Rajendran, a lemon fruit seller, located at Aberdeen Bazaar, supports a family of four members that include his wife and two sons aged 19 and 22 years. Being the only bread winner, he was among the worst affected by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. He struggled to make his ends meet after his stock of fruits totally perished during lockdown. He could not stop tears in his eyes recalling the pandemic time. His family members faced extremely hardships and sometimes survived only on some biscuits for lunch and dinner.
