Port Blair, June 5: World Environment Day is observed worldwide on June 5 and celebrated to encourage awareness on environmental protection. "The celebration of this day provides us with an opportunity to broaden the basis for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct by individuals, enterprises, and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment" as described by United Nations. The day raises awareness about the environmental issues like global warming, marine pollution, human over-population, protection of wildlife, and sustainable consumption. It has spread so far and wide, that WED has become a global platform for countries to reach out to the public. The theme of World Environment 2020 is 'celebrating biodiversity’ a concern that is both urgent and existential. The fact is that the current environmental crisis is a warning that we must heed collectively. We must now fundamentally rethink our relationship with the living world, with natural ecosystems and their biodiversity.

Port Blair, June 5: The weather forecast indicates formation of low pressure area over Andaman Sea and East-Central & adjoining South East Bay of Bengal around 08 Jun 20. It is likely to intensify further during subsequent 24 hours and is likely to become well marked deep depression. Under its influence, heavy rain, squally winds gusting upto 30-35 knots and very rough sea conditions are likely to remain over Andaman sea till 12 Jun 20.

PS Chatham Solves Mystery of Burning New Born Puppies

The team of Police Station Chatham has finally solved the mystery of burning five puppies alive at Teal House Government accommodation and arrested a Doctor from ANIIMS for having committed the gruesome crime.  

Port Blair, June 5: On 03/06/2020, a written complaint was received from Dr. Hemant residing in Teal House, Delanipur that 05 nos. puppies have been burnt alive in front of his room no. 205 by some unknown person. On receipt of written information, a case crime no. 51/2020 dt. 03/06/2020 U/s 428/429 IPC r.w.s 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 was chalked out at PS Chatham and the investigation was taken up immediately.
