Port Blair, June 3: Upon the superannuation of Dr. N. Francis Xavier, Principal, JNRM, the Ex-Lt. Governor of A&N Islands, Lt. Gen. AK Singh, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd) has conveyed his best wishes for his future endevours. Dr. Francis retired from his yeoman service as an educationist on 31st May 2020.

Port Blair, June 3: In an Order issued today, the District Magistrate, South Andaman has declared the containment operations in the containment area comprising Bambooflat, Hopetown, Shorepoint, Stewartgunj, Nayapuram, Kanyapuram, Wimberlygunj (part), Kadakachang & Govindpuram as over.

Port Blair, June 3: The Andaman & Nicobar Administration has decided to recommence the helicopter services in the Inter-Island sector w.e.f. June 4, 2020, in pursuance of the Guidelines for Phased Reopening (Unlock 1) issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The resumption of the service shall be by observing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) notified by the Director of Civil Aviation.

Hearing of Hon’ble High Court Fixed for 9th June Due to Poor Internet Connectivity
Port Blair, June 2: Continuing the Writ Petition W.P. No. 5324(W) of 2020, the Andaman and Nicobar Bar Association led by its President, Shri Mohammed Tabraiz had pointed out before the Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta, Circuit Bench at Port Blair that the undersea cable operating from Chennai is ready for operation in segment 1. i.e. Port Blair to Diglipur and Segment 2 i.e. Havelock, whereas segments 2, 3, 4 and 5 would require some time. Inspite of segments 1 and 6 being ready for operation, the islanders are being deprived of the facility when the islanders need the most, particularly for online classes of the students, operation of Video Conference in Courts and medical purpose.
