Port Blair, June 18: Dr. C.V. Kulkarni Best Young Scientist Award (2023) was conferred to Dr. K. Saravanan, Senior Scientist, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair for his significant contribution in the field of Fisheries and Allied Sciences at National Level during the ICAR-CIFE Endowment Award Ceremony held at ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai on 14.06.2024.

Mayabunder, June 18: As part of the observance of 10th International Day of Yoga 2024, the Ministry of Ayush is organizing yoga perspective programme among various Departments under Mayabunder. Under the supervision of Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman and Shri Ashish Joon, Assistant Commissioner, (HQ), Mayabunder, yogic session was organized at District Jail, N&M Andaman, Mayabunder today.

Port Blair, June 16: Under the initiative of “Cyber Surakshit Vibhag”, the Cyber Crime Police Station, A&N Islands conducted an impactful cyber awareness session at the Likhabali Auditorium, Brichgunj. The event, which took place on 13.06.2024, was specifically designed for the personnel of the Andaman & Nicobar Command and it witnessed a robust attendance of over 350 participants.

Port Blair, June 18: The cargo vessel MV Chuglam will sail for Campbell Bay via Car Nicobar, Chowra, Teressa, Katchal & Nancowry on 22.06.2024 (Sat) at 1600 Hrs from Chatham Jetty and will sail for Port Blair immediately after discharging/loading of Cargo at respective ports. Booking of cargo for the above sailing will commence from 19.06.2024onwards between 0900 Hrs& 1200 Hrs at Commercial Wing.

Port Blair, June 16: On 15.06.2024, Police Station Humfrygunj received a call reporting a murder at Dhanikhari. The Humfrygunj Police swiftly responded to the complaint formed a dedicated team comprising SI G. Mohan Rao, SHO PS Humfrygunj along with ASI R.C. Singh and other Police Station staff. They rushed to the scene and found the lifeless body of a resident of Chouldari. An eye witness identified the accused who attacked with a 'Dah' after a confrontation. The accused fled from the scene and made extensive efforts to hide but was apprehended within three hours by the dedicated police team of the South Andaman District. An FIR was registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Humfrygunj and the crime scene was documented. Additionally, 04 individuals who harbored the accused and attempted to destroy evidence were also arrested. Further investigation is in progress.
