Port Blair, June 3: The Department of Fisheries, in association with ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Cochin proposes will be organizing a three days Training Programme on ‘Marine Ornamental Fish Breeding’ during the third week of June, 2024. The training programme includes classroom lectures and practical session on hatchery technology, breeding, seed production and rearing of common Marine Ornamental Fishes involving 25 selected participants from A&N Islands.

Port Blair, June 1: In a proactive effort to reduce human-crocodile conflicts, the South Andaman Division conducted awareness programmes at various places viz. Tushnabad, Ramnagar, Caddlegunj, Sona Pahad, Ferrargunj, Saitankhadi Jn., Mathura, Alipur villages today. During the programme, the villagers/ fishermen were advised not to dump fish waste, meat leftovers and carcass of animals in the nallah/ creeks and to take sufficient precaution while moving in the flooded areas adjoining to the creeks/ nallah.

Port Blair, June 2: The Andaman & Nicobar Police successfully conducts a "Know Our Island" session as a part of the on-going Holistic Summer Camp 2024. The session was led by the esteemed historian Dr. Pronob Kumar Sircar, renowned for his extensive knowledge and engaging narratives about the history and legacy of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Holistic Summer Camp 2024 is designed to nurture the all-round development of young participants, encompassing their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Through such variety of activities and educational sessions, the camp aims to provide youth with the guidance and inspiration needed to excel in their chosen fields.

Port Blair, June 2: Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to combating drug-related activities, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, with the assistance of the Dog Squad, executed two targeted anti-narcotics operations on May 31, 2024, resulting in significant seizures and arrests.

In the first operation, acting on specific intelligence input, a police team from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, consisting of SI Mohd Rahil Islam, PC/2836 M. Raja Rao, and LPC/2661 R. Kavita, along with the Dog Squad team, including PC/167 Ashim Ray, Dog Handler with Sniffer Dog 'ORAN', and PC/1297 Anand Lall, intercepted Smt. Sabita Das (53), W/o Shri Akhil Das, a private labourer, resident of Saudpara, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. Sabita Das, who arrived Port Blair from Kolkata on May 31, 2024, via Air India, was found in possession of 995 grams of Ganja, which was clandestinely concealed in her bag. The contraband was seized, and the accused was arrested on the spot after observing all codal formalities.
