Port Blair, May 22: Heavy rain (7-11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over A&N Islands on May 23, 24 & 25. Squally weather with gusty surface wind exceeding 45 kmph is also very likely to be along and off A&N coast. Sea condition is very likely to be rough to very rough. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea till May 25.

Port Blair, May 22: The vessel MV Swaraj Dweep will sail from Port Blair to Vizag on May 25 at 1000 hrs. Excess baggage will be loaded from 1400 hrs to 1600 hrs on May 24. The excess baggage/cargo need to be booked in advance at Commercial Wing, DSS. Embarkation of passengers will commence from 0800 hrs on May 25. The embarkation of passengers will be closed one hour before the schedule time. Passengers reporting late will not be allowed to board the vessel.

Port Blair, May 21: In order to mitigate human crocodile interface, a series of awareness programme was conducted by South Andaman Forest Division at Beodnabad, Jodakilan Dinghighat, Fish Landing Centre at Guptapara, Hobdypur, near Fisheries Jetty at Collinpur, Miletilak, Ranchi Basti (Tushnabad), Namunaghar, Lohabarack, Jirkatang No.2 and Burmanallah to create awareness among the local populace/ villagers about the precautionary measures to be taken to avoid conflicts with crocodiles.

Port Blair, May 21: The newly enacted laws will commence on 1st July 2024 and to ensure its effective implementation, the South Andaman District Police conducted a major 2-days awareness campaign for different segments of society.

Police officials of the South Andaman District have conducted awareness programs across various locations in South Andaman District. The areas of the district covered by the program are Haddo, Chatham, Junglighat, Beodnabad, Wimberlyganj, Lamba pahad, Ograbraj, Nimbu Bagicha, Fish Landing Center - Guptapara, Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep, Neil Kendra, Hutbay. The awareness campaigns were conducted by officers of the ranks of DSsP, Inspectors as well as other ranks of the police.
