Port Blair, Aug 9: In support of the Mahapadaav organized by the central trade unions jointly all over the country against the anti-worker and anti-farmer policies of the central government, CITU Andaman & Nicobar State Committee organized a Mass Dharna at Tiranga Park, Port Blair today (9.8.2023) evening. 

Inaugurating the Mass Dharna, R. Surendran Pillai, President of the CITU A & N State Committee said that the BJP-led central government and its Administration in the islands are continuously pursuing anti-working class policies.  He said that   despite order of the Division Bench of the High Court, the arrears of 1/30th of pay plus DA is not being paid to the daily rated mazdoors working under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration.

Port Blair, Aug 9: The Pradesh Youth Congress commemorated its Foundation Day with great zeal and enthusiasm on the 9th of August 2023 at Gandhi Bhavan, Port Blair.

Under the leadership of State President PYC, Ms. Diksha Dular and Vice President Mr. Abhibhusan Ghosh, the programme commenced with a flag hoisting ceremony, symbolizing the organization's commitment to its ideals.

Car Nicobar, Aug 9: An awareness program was organized at Car Nicobar in front of APWD Guest House by Car Nicobar Police under 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav' - 'Meri Maati Mera Desh'. About 150 persons had gathered and were briefed on various topics such as POCSO (Good touch bad touch) by SI Panchu, Traffic rules by SI Benedict, Cyber Crime by Insp. Shabana Haneef, Insp. Co-ordination, N/D, Drug Abuse and importance of Independence day celebration and role of Public/Police towards the society by Insp. Rahul, SHO, C/N.

Port Blair, Aug 9: Prayas JAC along with the Police Entertainment Team conducted a two-day awareness programme on POCSO Act 2012 at Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad School. The team were able to reach out to around 800 students. Ms. Marya Sheela and Mr. Vijay Kumar were the speakers on the occasion. The Police Entertainment Team also performed a skit to educate the children on POCSO Act.

Port Blair, Aug 9: Integrated STI, HIV TB and Hepatitis (ISHTH) Campaign was launched today at District Jail Prothrapur. The campaign was launched in the presence of Special Guests, Shri Vikram Singh, DANICS, Superintendent, District Jail, Prothrapur and Shri Rizwanullah, Deputy Secretary District Jail by the lighting of the lamp.

Dr Subrata Saha, Project Director, A&N AIDS Control Society (ANACS) welcomed the invitees, participants and the prison inmates.
