Port Blair, Dec. 7: The Port Blair Municipal Council is implementing the PM Street Vendor’s Aatma Nirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme for street vendors in letter and spirit. PM SVANidhi is a collateral free special microcredit facility for street vendors. It helps to formalize the street vendors and open up new opportunities for them to move ahead in their micro-enterprises by using the loan capital of Rs. 10,000 /-.

Port Blair, Dec. 7: The PM SVANidhi scheme has emerged as a savior for street vendors in their most turbulent times. Their business has been adversely affected during the pandemic. Among the worst hit figures a lady street vendor, Arpita Singha Roy, who runs a fast food business, opposite Bharat Textile, Aberdeen bazaar. She along with her husband supports a family a four members. The Fast food business is their only source of income on a daily basis. With all their savings being exhausted during pandemic time, their life had come to a standstill.

Port Blair, Dec. 7: On occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day 2020, a delegation led by Col D S Godara (Retd.), Honorary Secretary, Rajya Sainik Board, A&N Administration called on Shri Kulanand Joshi, IAS, Secretary to Lt Governor. On behalf of Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands, a cheque of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) from Lt. Governor’s Relief Fund, Andaman & Nicobar Islands was donated towards the cause by Secretary to LG to the Secretary, Rajya Sainik Board.

Revised Charges to be Applicable from 7th December

Port Blair, Dec. 6: In view of the steady decrease in the number of positive cases and to make the testing charges affordable to everyone for the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT)/RTPCR being conducted on passengers who intend to proceed to inter islands, by any mode of transport (Heli/ship/ATR) will be Rs.200/- henceforth.
