Port Blair, Jan 10: The District Administration is working on war footing to contain the spread of Covid-19 and limiting the number of cases in South Andaman District and has taken various proactive and necessary measures/ precautions in order to bring this pandemic to a halt.

Port Blair, Jan. 10: Consequent on approval accorded by Competent Authority, the classes of five colleges namely - JNRM, TGCE, DBRAIT, ANCOL & MGGC and classes from I to XII of all management schools (Govt., Govt. Aided, Private Unaided, Local Bodies, KVs & JNVs) across Islands will remain closed with effect from January 11, 2022 to January 31, 2022 as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among students.

Port Blair, Jan 10: Together with the rest of the country, the Administration of COVID precaution vaccine dose for Healthcare and Frontline Workers and those over 60 years of age with co-morbidities got underway today. Good number of Healthcare and Frontline Workers and those above 60 years of age with co-morbidities were seen taking the vaccine jab at their respective/ closest Vaccination Centres. As per the data received from the Health Department, 374 beneficiaries were inoculated with COVID precaution vaccine doses in different parts of the Islands today. Accordingly, 293 beneficiaries were inoculated in South Andaman District, 45 were inoculated in North & Middle Andaman District while 36 were inoculated in Nicobar District.

Port Blair, Jan 10: As many as 25 youths of Valuvar Nagar, Bambooflat 02, joined the Indian National Congress on Monday in the presence of ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder and ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker

The joining was held under the leadership of DCC President Mr. V.K Abdul Aziz and motivation of DCC General Secretary Mr. Abhibhushan Ghosh and Congress worker Mr. Ravi Ganesh.

Port Blair, Jan. 10: During the RT-PCR test conducted on 308 passengers who arrived here yesterday, 73 positive cases have been detected. Today, 13 flights with 1589 passengers arrived, out of which, RT-PCR test was conducted on 308 passengers (includes 13 foreign travelers) and the reports are awaited.
