Port Blair, Sept. 6: Firing practice will be carried out by Coast Guard at Chinthe Long Range, Brichgunj on Sept. 13 from 9.30 am to 5 pm. All concerned have been warned to keep themselves and their livestock away from firing area during the mentioned date and time.

Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) has condoled the passing away of Shri CS Anup, Sr Audit Officer, Indian Audit & Accounts Department, Port Blair at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on 5th September, 2023. He was 56 years.  He was undergoing medical treatment at Thiruvananthapuram for the last few months.  He left behind his wife and a daughter. His body will be brought to Port Blair on 7th September, 2023. I convey my heartfelt condolence to the family members of late CS Anup.  

Port Blair, Sept. 5: The Hon’ble Special Judge Shri. Bhawani Shankar Sharma, at Port Blair on 05th September 2023 convicted one accused persons namely Manojit Joydhar, resident of Lal Pahad, Chouldhari Village, Ferrargunj Tehsil in a sexual assault case committed by him against a minor girl then aged 11 years.

It is averred that on 30.05.2018, when the victim boarded the Auto-rickshaw of accused who was the driver of the said Auto-rickshaw and at some place the Auto-rickshaw stopped, he finding the girl alone left the driving and entered the back seat and touched her inappropriately and expressed his intention to remain with her at night. He was then found under the influence of liquor.

Diglipur, Sept. 5: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament celebrated Teachers' Day with great enthusiasm and gratitude in the presence of the dedicated teachers and enthusiastic students of Durgapur, VKV, and Sita Nagar schools in the Diglipur region.

Port Blair, Sept. 5: A 35-year-old male chronically suffering from severe pain in abdomen, after every meal was diagnosed with chronic calcific pancreatitis. It is a medical condition, in which the pancreas (an important organ for digestion) becomes persistently inflamed and due to repeated inflammation, stones form within the pancreas. He was being treated elsewhere at multiple hospitals with no solution to his ailment. He was admitted in GB Pant Hospital, and was examined and evaluated by Surgeons with blood investigation and USG abdomen and contrast CT scan and was prepared for the definitive curative surgery.
