Port Blair, March 12: Shri Kiren Rijiju, Hon’ble Minister of Earth Sciences, GoI after his two-day visit on 11th & 12th March, 2024 to A&N Islands met Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency today at Raj Niwas. Hon’ble Lt. Governor apprised the Hon’ble Minister on the various ongoing & follow-on mega projects of Andaman & Nicobar Administration being steered through Islands Development Agency.

Port Blair, March 12: The State Level Technical Committee Meeting (SLTC) review meeting for fixation of scale of finance of various seasonal crops, vegetables, floriculture, fruits, spices, honeybee rearing and fixation of scale of finance to KCC- Fishermen including finance to KCC- Animal Husbandry for the year 2024-25 was held on 12th March 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Chamber of Director of Agriculture A & N Islands under Chairmanship of Shri. Vikram Singh, DANICS, Director of Agriculture, Port Blair, A & N Administration.

Port Blair, Mar. 12: Chief Electoral Officer, A&N Islands, Shri B S Jaglan, IAS visited Ferrargunj Tehsil today and reviewed the election preparedness with AC/Assistant Returning Officer, Shri Anand Vardhan Mishra, Tehsildar, Ferrargunj, Shri Gopa Kumar and Shri Shishir Kumar Mishra, DM(IT)/AERO(HQ). He also addressed all the Supervisors and BLO of Ferrargunj Tehsil and directed them to prepare Booth Level Turnout Management Plan. He exhorted them to increase voter turnout in Tehsil and facilitate voters in every possible way to come to Polling Stations and exercise their voting right on poll day. In previous General Election to Lok Sabha 2019, the voting percentage in Ferrargunj Tehsil was 70.69%. During General Election 2024, aspires to increase voting percentage to 80%.

Port Blair, March 12: Pankh Andaman NGO celebrated "Mahila Utsav" in collaboration with Chinmaya Mission on 10th March. This programme was honoured with the presence of our Chief Guest Shri. Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary A&N Islands. The exhibition cum sale gave opportunity to the ladies to present their skills.

The participants, including college students who had come from the nook and corner of the Islands to exhibit their talents like artwork, variety in recipe's, stitching, salad art, photography were highly motivated and encouraged by our Chief Guest.

Port Blair, Mar. 12: Andaman & Nicobar Regional Office of NABARD organized UT Credit Seminar yesterday. Smt. Nandini Paliwal, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, who was the chief guest on the occasion, released the UT Focus Paper of Andaman & Nicobar Islands prepared by NABARD for the year 2024-25. UT Focus Paper for Andaman & Nicobar, published by NABARD every year, is a comprehensive document which maps the potential for ground level credit off-take in Priority Sectors as categorised by the Reserve Bank of India. Broadly, the UT Focus paper estimates Rs.315.68 crore potential for agriculture sector, Rs.819.18 crore for Industries Sector and Rs.27.78 crore for Ancillary Sector.
