Port Blair, Jan 22: The Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma today planted a sapling at ‘Bageecha’ as a mark of a new beginning of the initiative to bring people closer to nature. The Bageecha was inaugurated at 10.30 am at Brichgunj Chowk, Prothrapur, Port Blair and is a concept by the daily ‘Andaman Chronicle’ led by its Editor, Shri Denis Giles.

A step closer to nature:

Diglipur, Jan 23: On 24/12/2022, Indian Coast Guard apprehended 46 Myanmarese Poachers along with 04 Engine Dinghies near East Island and a case under Maritime Zone of India Act, 1981 and Foreigners Act 1946 was registered against them at PS Central Crime Station and is being investigated by Dy.SP (CID) Kumar Abhishek. During sustained interrogation, the Myanmarese Poachers revealed that some local residents of Hara Tikrey Village under PS Kalighat Jurisdiction met them several times last year at Hiran Tikrey, Kishori Nagar and provided the poachers various logistical support. In return the poachers had provided these local residents Mobile phones, Solar Panel, Batteries, underwater Torches, watch etc. for providing them logistical support.

Port Blair, Jan 23: The Chief Engineer, APWD has concurred the sanction of Adhoc Bonus to DRMs who where benefitted with 1/30th with the approval of Personnel Department and Finance Department of A&N Administration. The APWD Karmachari Sangh (AKS) has expressed its gratitude to the Chief Secretary, Secretary (PWD), Chief Engineer, APWD for giving the approval to release the Adhoc Bonus.

Port Blair, Jan 23: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to conduct events like flea market, beach festival, music festival etc. for the Islanders on a regular basis since there is no other mode of entertainment for the islanders.

During a recent meeting the Member of Parliament informed the Lt. Governor that in the recent past Andaman & Nicobar Administration used to conduct regular events like flea market, beach festival, music festival etc. for the entertainment of Islanders, which was hugely popular among local youths, Islanders and tourists.

Diglipur, Jan 23: CPI (M) Kalighat Area of CPI (M) has organized a public meeting at Kalighat Bazar on 22nd January, 2023 on various pending demands and issues of the people of North Andaman.  Addressing the meeting, Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, State Organising Committee of CPI (M), who was on a visit to North Andaman, criticized the BJP-led central government for the rising unemployment in the islands and also not taking any concrete measures to create jobs for the youth of these islands.  He expressed concern over the rising prices of LPG, diesel, petrol and essential commodities and said that the BJP government has completely failed to arrest prices in the country.
