Port Blair, June 12: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today highlighted the problems being faced by Katchal bound passengers due to non-berthing of ships at Katchal Island.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, the Member of Parliament pointed out that residents of Katchal Island are facing huge problems in transportation from Port Blair to Katchal and vice versa as hardly any ship is directly berthing at Katchal Island these days.

Port Blair, June 12: A meeting with the Councillors of the Port Blair Municipal Council was chaired by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Jitendra Naraian, IAS. The meeting was attended by the Councillors of various wards along with the Chairperson, PBMC Smti U Kavitha. During the meeting various grievances concerning inconvenience to the general public was raised by the Councillors, which was heard patiently by the Chief Secretary.

Port Blair, June 12: The first meeting of the Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee of the All India Democratic Women’s Association was held at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali, Port Blair on 11.06.2022 under the chairmanship of C. Anandi, Convener. The meeting discussed various issues relating to women in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The meeting noted that atrocities on women are increasing in the Islands and women are put to unnecessary harassment and exploitation. The meeting observed that authorities are not attending to the grievance and problems of women in the Islands. 

Port Blair, June 12: Once again the PS Aberdeen Police cracked a burglary case within hours, which has reportedly occurred in the ration shop, R.K. Super Market at Mohanpura during night hours on 08/06/2022 by arresting the accused person and recovering stolen property.

Port Blair, June 12: The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its deep concern at the incidents of violence which have occurred in Ranchi, Howrah and some other places during protests against the offensive remarks against Prophet Muhammad made by two BJP spokespersons.

While the anger against such provocative and insulting remarks are justified, any violent protest will play into the hands of communal forces and further aggravate the situation.  The CPI(M) appeals to the people to maintain calm and peace.
