Port Blair, Sept. 1: Tourism continues to occupy highest priority of Andaman & Nicobar Administration. As a step forward, the UT Administration has formulated policies for various tourism activities i.e. Caravan Tourism, House Boat Tourism, Bird Watching, Beach Shacks, Luxury Tents. Caravan Tourism Policy, Bird Watching Policy and Beach Shacks Policy have already been placed in the public domain, inviting comments/suggestions from tourism stakeholders and general public. The last date for receipt of comments/suggestions in respect of Caravan Tourism Policy, Bird Watching Policy is 12.9.2023 and Beach Shacks Policy by 20.9.2023.

The A&N Police have been dedicated to tackling this issue head-on by implementing proactive measures, conducting thorough investigations, and by collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that justice is served. We are happy to announce a significant achievement in its ongoing efforts to combat Cyber fraud within the A & N Islands. During the year 2023, the Cyber cell of A&N Police, has successfully put on hold an amount of Rs. 991,690/-, in the bank itself, while the money was on way to the fraudster and has protected the financial interests of victims of such Cyber frauds.

School Port Blair, R Tejass, of Sagritara school, Kavya Raj, K Jaivardhan Rao of VKV School, Galav Saha and Midhun Vettaiyaar P of Carmel Sr. Sec School, Manvender Rao, student of MBBS, Yadhava Rao and N Eswar Rao, have achieved their international Chess Rating as per the latest International Rating list published on 31st August 2023 by World Chess Federation (FIDE).

Port Blair, Sept. 1: In a significant welfare initiative, the A&N Police has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Bank of India on January 25, 2023, to extend the benefits of the Police Salary Package to all its staff. This comprehensive package includes 'Accidental Insurance of Rs. 40 lakhs' in the event of an unfortunate demise.

In a poignant example, the claim for accidental insurance following the tragic demise of Late HC Ajit Das, who lost his life in a road accident, has been efficiently processed as the inaugural case under this package. The deceased's wife received a sum of Rs. 40.00 lakhs under the 'Police Salary Package' on August 30, 2023.

Port Blair, Sept. 1: Every year the 16th September is observed as World Ozone Day, is also known as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. The date was designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 1994, commemorating the date in 1987 when nations signed the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.

This special day aims to draw attention of everyone on this planet towards the usefulness of ozone layer, how it protects us from UV rays and how we need to protect it from damaging chemicals. The theme of World Ozone Day 2023 is “Montreal Protocol: fixing the ozone layer and reducing climate change”.
