I am happy that the Festival of lights is being celebrated across Andaman & Nicobar Islands along with the rest of the Country, irrespective of caste, colour and creed which is a strong re-affirmation of the Island's secular traditions.

Port Blair, Oct. 22: The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, along with Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SA), Smti Pramila Kumari, Adhyaksha, Zila Parishad, Tehsildar, Ferrargunj, Zilla Parishad member, and concerned Gram Pradhan, Ward Members visited the areas predominantly inhabited by Ranchi community in Mithakhari, Namunaghar, Brindaban, Tushnabad Gram Panchayats.

Port Blair, Oct. 23: The NGO ‘WITH YOU’ organized a program at Community Hall Ferrargunj to felicitate the sanitation workers of various Gram Panchayats under Ferrargunj Tehsil for winning the National award- 1st position under Swachh Sarvekshan Grameen 2022.  Smti Nandini Paliwal, IAS, Commissioner cum Secretary (RD/PRI) graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Port Blair, Oct. 22: The Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with Health, Education & Police Department is organizing awareness programme on ‘Ill Effects of Alcohol and Drug Abuse’, to make Andaman & Nicobar Islands ‘Drug Free’. Accordingly, awareness programmes for students and teachers were held at GSSS Bathubasti, Nirmala School and Carmel SSS. More than 400 students and teachers were sensitized through the campaign.
