Port Blair, June 16: The State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), A&N Islands and District Legal Services Authority, Andaman & Nicobar Islands organized National Lok Adalat in the District Court Building/ ADR centre-‘PRAYAS’, Port Blair and Sub-Divisional Court Complex at Mayabunder and Diglipur today.

The National Lok Adalat was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Justice T.S. Sivagnanam, Chief Justice, High Court at Calcutta and Hon’ble Justice Raja Basu Chowdhury, Judge, High Court, Calcutta and Hon’ble Additional Zonal Judge, A&N Islands through video conferencing in the august presence of Hon’ble Justice Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya, Judge, High Court, Calcutta and Hon’ble Zonal Judge, and Executive Chairman, SLSA, A&N Islands, Hon’ble Justice Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee, Judge, High Court, Calcutta today.

Port Blair, June 16: The month of June is being observed as Anti Malaria Month throughout the country. As part of the observance, the NVBDCP Unit, Directorate of Health Services conducted a bike rally awareness programme today from the National Memorial Cellular Jail to Bathu Basti in coordination with the Directorate of Health Services and UT Health Mission.

At the outset, Dr. B. Ajit Kumar, Deputy Director (Malaria)/Joint Secretary (NVBDCP) welcomed the gathering. Dr Suja Antony, Director of Health Services was the chief guest on the occasion. The programme was also attended by other dignitaries and participants.

On the auspicious occasion of ‘Id-ul-Zuha', I extend my heartiest greetings and warm wishes to all the residents of A & N Islands.

Port Blair, June 16: The inaugural ceremony & ‘Policy Dialogue’ on ‘Developing Implementation Model for Suicide Prevention in Schools & Colleges of A&NI’ was held yesterday under the chairmanship of Commissioner-cum- Secretary (Health), Smt Nandini Paliwal, IAS. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Health Department, Education Department, A&N Police & NGOs. As per NCRB, 2022, the suicide rate in India is 12 per 100,000 of the population in 2021, reflecting a 6.2% increase from the previous year.
