Car Nicobar, June 27: The Andaman & Nicobar Police have launched an extensive initiative to educate the public about the newly enacted criminal laws: the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023.

Recognizing the transformative impact of these laws on the criminal justice system and the wide reach of media, the Nicobar District Police organized a virtual press conference today. Sh. Sunny Gupta, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District, addressed the media fraternity, emphasizing the preparedness of the District Police to implement the new laws. He highlighted several citizen-centric and reformative features of the new criminal laws, including the facilitation of online FIR registration (e-FIR) and the introduction of Zero FIR provisions, allowing FIRs to be filed from any location in the country.

Port Blair, June 27: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Shri. Rangalal Halder has addressed a letter to the Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) highlighting an urgent issue concerning the ship sailing schedule between Port Blair and Diglipur via. Mayabunder.

In the letter, Shri. Halder emphasized the critical need for regular ship sailing on this route, especially in light of the recent transportation challenges faced by residents. The last ship sailed on this route on June 22, 2024. Since then, with the culmination of the summer vacation, there has been an unprecedented demand for transportation.

Port Blair, June 27: The entrance exam for the one-year free residential civil service coaching program conducted by Falcon Civil Service Academy and SKSSF National Committee will be held on June 30, Sunday, from 10 AM to 1 PM. This entrance exam will be conducted at 15 centers across various states in India. At Andaman & Nicobar Islands the centre will be on IQRA Public School, Wimberlygunj.

Port Blair, June 27: The Chairman, ANTCC Campaign Committee, Mr. TSG Bhasker has brought the attention of the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration towards the critical shortage of Doctors and Compounders in Veterinary Hospitals of Diglipur and Kalighat region.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary on Monday, Mr. Bhasker said that there is only one Doctor available in the Veterinary Hospital, Naveen Nagar which is insufficient to take care of the huge number of domestic animals being brought in the hospital.
