Campbell Bay, June 30: The public hearing for the Draft Social Impact Assessment (SIA) report of the proposed Green Field International Airport in Great Nicobar was conducted on June 28, 2024, at two locations i.e. Gandhinagar Community Hall and Primary School Shastri Nagar. The event garnered significant attendance and participation from key stakeholders.

The meeting was graced by esteemed members of the local committee of Campbell Bay, including Shri E.S. Rajesh, Pramukh, Shri Prahlad Singh, Pradhan (Laxminagar) additionally Shri Ravi Shankar, Senior Consultant (ANIIDCO), Shri D.M Prabhakar Rao, Tehsildar of Campbell Bay, representatives from SIA Survey Agency Probe Research & Social Development from Delhi, and Field Officer, Shri Laxmidhar Dubey were all present at the public hearing.

Port Blair, June 30: The 1st Late T Mohan Rao Memorial Open Chess Tournament 2024 which commenced on 29.06.2024 at Andhra Association Hall, Port Blair concluded successfully today. The event was organised by Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) in collaboration with Andhra Association Port Blair.

The final day of the games were inaugurated by Smti. Nandini Maharaj, IAS, ADM (SA), who attended the inaugural session of the final day of play this morning as the chief guest. She made the ceremonial first move at the top boards against J. S. Virat to start the final day's games.

Port Blair, June 30: The District Administration, South Andaman has been continuously providing its unwavering support to the general public in times of emergency and crisis management during inclement weather conditions in the District. Due to heavy rains, most of the low lying areas of South Andaman were affected. The line Departments were kept alert for restoration of basic amenities. As the rain almost stopped today, seizing the opportunity, the APWD, Revenue and PRIs joined hands to clear some culverts at Humfrygunj, Ferrargunj Tehsil. The immediate clearance of the silt was directed by the Deputy Commissioner (SA), Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS under the supervision of the SDM (SA), Shri Vinayak Chamadia, IAS.

Port Blair, June 30: Exploring the vast potential for Bee keeping, weeklong hands on training on ‘Training on Manufacturing of Bee Hive Boxes’ was imparted to the Officials of Agriculture Department, Diglipur for their skill development at the Carpentry Section of the Industries Extension Office, Diglipur from June 24 to 29, 2024.

About Seven Regular Mazdoors and two Industries Trainees of Diglipur zone were imparted hands on training on how to prepare bee hive boxes by the Zonal Team of Industries Department. The trainees successfully manufactured 4 bee hive boxes during the training period.
