
Car Nicobar, June 26: The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed today at District Library, Car Nicobar under the theme ‘The evidence is clear: invest in preventions’ with the aim to raise awareness about the harmful effects of Drug Abuse and to promote a Drug-free Society under the banner Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) by IRCAs under ICDS (Tribal Project), Car Nicobar.
Shri Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, graced the occasion as the chief guest and emphasized the need for collective efforts by society to curb the menace of drug addiction and trafficking. He also appreciated the efforts of the organizer for their commitment and dedication towards the cause and appreciated all the participants particulalrly youth in spreading awareness and making the event successful.
Earlier, Smti Sunita Kumari, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), ICDS (Tribal Project), Car Nicobar welcomed the gathering and briefed the various activities conducted throughout the month from 1/06/2025 to 26/06/2025 as part of the awareness campaign.
A motivational video on the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of rehabilitation was screened during the program. The event also featured skit and cultural performances by children and youth focusing on the theme of a drug free society. The event concluded with prize distribution ceremony to the winners of the various competitions.
