Sri Vijaya Puram, June 26: In a heartwarming initiative that blended entertainment with empathy, the Rotary Club of Port Blair created a memorable experience for underprivileged children by organizing a first-day, first-show screening of the newly released film Sitare Zameen Par. Held at Divyam Talkies, Prothrapur, the event was titled “Joy Movie Day with Little Hearts”, and saw the participation of children from Seva Niketan and Pranav Kanya Ashram.
The entire movie hall was exclusively reserved for the children, ensuring a safe and intimate setting where every child could enjoy the film without distractions. From the moment the children stepped off the buses arranged for them by the Rotary team, they were greeted with warm smiles, guided to their seats, and treated to snacks—all thoughtfully prepared to make them feel cherished.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Sagar Khurana, President of the Rotary Club of Port Blair, said, “We believe that small gestures can make big differences. ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ is a film about children, learning, and love—what better way to celebrate the spirit of childhood than by making these wonderful kids feel like stars on the very first day of the film’s release?”
He added that the initiative was not just about watching a movie, but about giving the children an opportunity they might not otherwise have—to experience joy, inclusion, and a sense of belonging.
Supporting the effort was Mr. Diwakar Murthy, a fellow Rotarian and the owner of Divyam Talkies, who not only provided the venue but also played a key role in coordinating the screening.
“Movies can inspire dreams,” said Mr. Murthy. “A film like this, with such a powerful message about acceptance and potential, can spark something within these young hearts. We hope it motivates them to dream big and believe in themselves,” he added.
The film Sitare Zameen Par, directed by R.S. Prasanna and written by Divya Nidhi Sharma, was chosen for its powerful narrative focused on children with learning differences. Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, and featuring music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the movie resonated with the children, many of whom could relate to the themes of perseverance and self-worth.
As the lights dimmed and the movie began, the smiles on the faces of the children told the story. After the screening, the children shared their excitement and appreciation, their beaming faces reflecting the success of the event.
