
Car Nicobar, June 25: The valedictory function of the month-long Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) was organised at Priyadarshini Hall, Car Nicobar, by the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), ICDS (Tribal Project), Nicobar, under the Directorate of Social Welfare, A&N Administration, in association with the District Administration, Nicobar.
The programme was graced by Shri Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobars, as the chief guest, along with Dr. Naveen Kumar, Assistant Commissioner (HQ), Car Nicobar, representatives of the Tribal Council, HODs/HOOs, Anganwadi Workers, students, and members of the public.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobars, appreciated the efforts of all stakeholders involved in organising the campaign. He emphasised the importance of collective action in preventing substance abuse and encouraged continued awareness initiatives to build a healthy and drug-free Nicobar.
During the month-long campaign, several awareness and community engagement programmes were organised under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. These included awareness programmes in villages and institutions, a Poster Making Competition at ITI Car Nicobar, a Capacity Building Programme for Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Awareness banners were displayed at prominent locations across the Nicobar District and Nukard Natak.
During the function, prizes were distributed to the winners of the DC Cup Badminton Tournament with Trophies and cash Prizes, Poster Making Competition, and certificates were awarded to participants of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Marathon 2026. Trophies were also presented to the winners and runners-up of the Friendly Volleyball Tournament. The programme concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Shri Tanesh Indwar, Project Coordinator, IRCA, ICDS (TP), Nicobar.
