Guptapara, July 31: The State Child Protection Society (SCPS), Directorate of Social Welfare organized a community awareness programme on “Prevention of Child Labour and Protection of Child Rights” at Guptapara Panchayat. The programme was coordinated by Programme Manager, State child Protection Society in collaboration with the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPPDR) and Unique Disability ID (UDID) schemes.
During the programme, participants were also sensitized about Child Helpline 1098 and informed that any child facing abuse, neglect, exploitation, trafficking, child labour, or any situation requiring immediate care and protection can be reported by calling 1098, enabling timely intervention by the concerned authorities. The resource person, Founder of Pankh NGO, explained the difference between child labour and age-appropriate household responsibilities. She emphasized that every child has the right to learn, play, grow in a safe environment, and realize their full potential.
The Pradhan of Guptapara Panchayat appreciated the initiative of the Directorate of Social Welfare and stated that such awareness programmes strengthen community participation in protecting children and building a safer society.
