
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 23: The Secretary (RD/ Panch.), A&N Administration, Shri Arjun Sharma (IAS), today inaugurated 6 days (June 23 to 28, 2025) Orientation-cum- Assessment Program of Community Cadre and Staff of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Rural Livelihood Mission (ANIRLM) attached with the Directorate of RD, PRIs & ULBs, A&N Administration in the Conference Hall of Tagore College of Education, Middle Point, Sri Vijaya Puram in collaboration with National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Hyderabad.
Smti Lalita Tigga, Block Development Officer, C.D Block Ferrargunj, Smti Gurjeet Kaur, Block Development Officer, C.D Block Prothrapur, Shri Kobbanna Venkateshwar Rao, Mission Manager, NRLM Resource Cell, NIRDPR, Hyderabad, National Resource Persons namely Shri Harish Vasishth, Shri Ajaya Kumar Mohapatra, Shri Sachin Bhagat, Shri Devendra Misra, RD Officials and more than 150 Community Resource Persons (Community Cadres) were present during the inauguration session.
The programme is focused on capacity building of the Community Cadre and the Block Level Officials in order to implement the scheme in effective manner to strengthen the SHGs and its Federations as well as provide them Financial Literacy to scale up their livelihood activities. The NIRDPR will frame innovative implementation strategies for A&N Islands involving Community Cadre which will help in promotion of financial and economic inclusion of SHG members. Special sessions by the State Bank of India (SBI) and Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), Sri Vijaya Puram be taken on Financial Literacy of SHGs.
Shri Arjun Sharma (IAS), Secretary (RD/ Panch.) appreciated the efforts of all the RD Officials and Community Cadres in making DAY-NRLM Scheme a huge success in the UT. He informed that the SHGs of A&N Islands are very vibrant and insisted on focusing on necessary support for various Livelihood Interventions of the SHGs. He appreciated for inclusion of sessions on Financial Literacy with the support of Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), State Bank of India, Sri Vijaya Puram to have a clarity on Financial Literacy.
Smti Lalita Tigga, Block Development Officer, C.D Block Ferrargunj welcomed the gathering and highlighted the major achievements made under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) scheme. Shri Kobbanna Venkateshwar Rao, Mission Manager, NRLM Resource Cell, NIRDPR, Hyderabad highlighted the importance and significance of the orientation programme wherein the various components of the scheme will be covered like Poverty, Vulnerability, Functioning of Community Based Organizations, Social Mobilization, Social Inclusion, Social Development Institutions of the poor, Gender, Food Nutrition Health and Wash (FNHW), Model CLF Strategy, LokOS, Financial Inclusion, Financial Literacy, Livelihoods (Farm and Non-Farm).
The inauguration programme concluded with vote of thanks by Smti Gurjeet Kaur, Block Development Officer, C.D Block Prothrapur. She informed that apart from focus on livelihood interventions, prior attention is required to strengthen all the community-based organizations under DAY-NRLM. More capacity building training programmes shall be conducted in the UT with the support of NIRDPR, Hyderabad in this UT, she added.
