State Level Orientation and Training Programme on Adoption Organised by SARA

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 24: A one-day State-Level Orientation and Training Programme on Adoption was held in the Conference Hall of the Department of Industries. The event was organized by the State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA), under the Directorate of Social Welfare, Sri Vijaya Puram, in collaboration with the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), and supported by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi.

The programme aimed to strengthen the adoption system through counselling in stages of Adoption Regulations, the role of Child Welfare Committees (CWCs), state-specific issues, identification of children for capacity-building, and coordination. Attendees included members of Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), members of CWCs, District Child Protection Units (DCPUs), Child Care Institutions (CCIs), Specialised Adoption Agencies and functionaries from the Directorate of Health.

Ms. Reeta Devi, Nodal Officer, Mission Vatsalya gave a brief on the Mission Vatsalya Scheme. The training sessions were led by P. Chandni, Senior Professional from CARA, and Ms. Charu Makkar, a CWC Expert and empanelled Resource Person from CARA with over 30+ years of experience in child rights and protection. They covered both the legal procedures and psychosocial aspects of adoption.

Ms. Manjula Das welcomed the gathering. Dr. Shweta, Probation Officer (JH), proposed the vote of thanks. The event concluded with a renewed commitment to ensuring that every child finds a safe, loving, and permanent home.
