STOP Diarrhoea Campaign to be Observed from July 16

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 3: STOP Diarrhoea Campaign will be observed from 16th July to 31st August, 2025 with the ultimate aim of zero child death due to childhood diarrhoea, however, childhood diarrhoea prevalence remains high. In this regard, an awareness programme was conducted at ICDS Training Centre, Attam Pahad on 1st July, 2025 for Anganwadi Workers.

Dr. H.M Siddaraju, Deputy Director (FW)/Joint Secretary (RCH-II), DHS addressing the gathering, focused on prevent, protect and treat prevention by giving Rotavirus vaccine. Protection by early initiation of breastfeeding within 1 hour of delivery, exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months, timely initiative of complementary feeds, maintaining personal hygiene, hand washing with soap and water, safe drinking water, nutritious food and timely administration of ORS and Zinc during episodes of diarrhoea. The campaign focuses on promoting the use of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and zinc, improving hygiene practices, and educating communities on diarrhoea management.

In this programme, Anganwadi Workers demonstrated steps of handwashing and preparation of ORS. Altogether, 212 Anganwadi Workers attended this programme.

Speaking at the event, the Nodal Officer emphasized, “Anganwadi Workers play a crucial frontline role in reaching out to families and educating mothers on hygiene, nutrition, and early intervention. Their awareness and active participation are essential for reducing child mortality due to diarrhoea.
