Training Programme on ‘Scientific Bee Keeping’ Conducted at Big Lapathy

Car Nicobar, July 3: The Department of Agriculture, Car Nicobar in collaboration with High Value Agriculture Development Agency (HVADA) organized a two-day training programme on ‘Scientific Bee Keeping’ at Community Hall, Big Lapathy village, Car Nicobar on July 2 & 3, 2025 under the National Bee Keeping and Honey Mission (NBHM), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, a scheme of National Bee Board (NBB).

The event was graced by the chief guest, Smt. Penina Manain, second Headmen, Shri Jack Benedick, Fourth Headmen, Big Lapathy along with Shri Alembhas, Village Secretary, lady representative and Dr. G.D. Sanket, Subject Matter Specialist from KVK-CIARI.

Shri Jack Benedick stressed on the importance of bee keeping and how one can easily adopt as an additional source of income. Shri Alembhas, Village Secretary emphasized on adopting modern agricultural practices along with scientific bee keeping to upscale crop production.

During the technical session, Shri C. Vinod Kumar, Assistant Director (Agri) presented an overview to the participants about the significance of beekeeping in horticulture, highlighting the contribution of honey bees to enhanced pollination, which results in increased crop yield.

On the second day, the participants visited the field of Shri Jaan Mohammed at Big Lapathy, Multi-Purpose Farm in Perka.
