SVPMC Seeks the Cooperation of General Public in Maintaining a Clean and Healthy City

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 15: An inspection was conducted by the higher authorities of the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC) today wherein it was found a large quantity of Construction & Demolition (C&D) waste, discarded tyres and other waste materials was seen accumulated along the roadside from Power House to Megapode Junction.

In compliance with the directions, the Senior Sanitary Inspector-I and the concerned Sanitary Inspector of Ward No. 03 carried out a special cleanliness drive along the identified stretch. During the drive, approximately 2 truckloads of Construction & Demolition (C&D) waste were collected and handed over to the Junior Engineer (Road Works) for reuse in road development works. In addition, discarded tyres and other waste materials were removed and transported for proper disposal, thereby restoring the cleanliness and aesthetics of the area.

SVPMC appeals to all residents, contractors, commercial establishments and the general public not to dump Construction & Demolition (C&D) waste, discarded tyres, construction materials or any other waste on roadsides, public places or open spaces. Such indiscriminate dumping not only spoils the city’s appearance visible cleanliness but also causes environmental pollution, obstructs public movement and poses serious health and safety hazards. Any person or establishment found violating these directions shall be liable for penal action, including the imposition of Environmental Compensation/fines, under the provisions of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, relevant Municipal Bye-laws and other applicable laws.

The Council has urged the general public to cooperate in maintaining a clean and healthy Sri Vijaya Puram by disposing of waste only through authorized collection and disposal systems. Public participation and responsible waste disposal are essential for achieving the objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission and keeping the city clean and sustainable.
