Veterinary Health and Infertility Camp Organised at Campbell Bay

Campbell Bay, July 3: A Veterinary Health and Infertility Camp was organized by Veterinary Hospital, Campbell Bay of Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, A&N Administration at Shastri Nagar and Gandhi Nagar in Great Nicobar Island. The camp organised to identify infertility-related issues in cattle as one of the key factors contributing to economic losses for farmers and to promote better livestock health and increased milk production in the region.

A total of 45 cows were examined during the camp, providing direct benefit to 14 local farmers. The veterinary team conducted thorough evaluations and provided immediate treatment for various reproductive and general health issues. Encouragingly, only two cows were diagnosed with reproductive conditions, one suffering from anoestrous and the other with underdeveloped genitalia which reflects the generally good reproductive health of the local livestock.

To further support the livestock nutrition and overall health, mineral mixture powder was distributed to all 14 beneficiaries. In addition, deworming treatment was administered to all 45 cows as a preventive measure. The camp was attended by Dr. Parag Deori, Senior Veterinary Officer, Ms. P. Gyana Kumari, Veterinary Compounder, along with other staff members from the Veterinary Hospital, Campbell Bay.
