Port Blair, March 4: The V.V. Giri, National Labour Institute, Noida Sector – 24, U.P. (A Govt. of India, M.O.I & E undertaking body), India’s Prime Labour Training Institute has accepted the nomination of 35 Trade Union Leaders & Activist for training in the course of “Leadership Development Programme” from BMS, A&N Islands. The training will commence from 11th -15th March, 2013. Out of the 35 participants, 15 are ladies.

The unique feature of the course is that journey to–fro, fooding and lodging will be provided by Institute. This is first time in the history of Trade Union of this Islands that such a large number of Trade Union leaders and activist will able to learn the modern technique of trade unionism, which is expected to help develop proletarian.

Port Blair, March 4: The training programme on ‘Fast Food, Hotel & Restaurant Management’ under Skill Development Training through Science & Technology (STST) concluded at its valedictory function held in the conference hall of Megapode Resort here this evening. The Principal Secretary & Managing Director ANIIDCO, Shri Jalaj Shrivastava was the chief guest while the Commissioner cum Secretary (Tourism), Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava graced the function as the guest of honour. Sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, GoI New Delhi, the training programme was organized by Andaman & Nicobar Consultancy Centre(ANCON) Port Blair.

Port Blair, March 4: The PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma on behalf of his party has recorded gratitude to the Lt Governor for enhancing honorarium of Anganwadi workers and helpers for which the Party has approached to the Administrator. In these hard days such enhancement will certainly be very helpful to the Workers and Helpers of Anganwadi and their moral and working capacity will be boosted, said Kuldeep. 

Port Blair, March 3: In order to celebrate International women’s day UNNATI convened a meeting of its volunteers and representatives of Self Help Groups and Joint Liability Groups on 2nd March 2013. It was decided to celebrate a week long programme in different villages from 4th Mar. to 10th Mar. 2013, during which food processing training to 20 women and 3 training on tailoring and machine repairs will be started to provide training to 90 women of weaker section besides organizing credit camp for sanction of loan under Joint Liability Group for undertaking self employment.

During the women’s day celebration the Govt. of India’s new scheme “Mission Poova Shakti“ for empowering and holistic development of women gender equality and gender justice through Inter sectoral convergence of programmes impacting forgiving synergy among various stakeholders and creating an enabling environment conducive to social change will be discussed and highlighted.

 

Port Blair, Feb. 27: It is brought to the notice of general public that the work of demolishing of spillway concrete of Dhanikhari Dam is progressing well and is as per the planned schedule programme for the erection of new lock gates. The Commissioner PWD during her visit to the construction site on 22/02/2013 has expressed her satisfaction over the progress made and directed to complete the work by June, 2013. The curtailment on water supply imposed will continue till the onset of monsoon.

Port Blair, Feb. 26: The new office of M/d Bharati Service Cooperative Society Ltd. was inaugurated today at Ferrargunj by Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Chairman, A&N State Cooperative Union.

In his address on the occasion, Sharma lauded the efforts of the BSC society for its services towards the rural people, especially to the farmers in the form of loan to purchase seeds, tractors and other infrastructures to improve their farming. Sharma briefed the gatherings about the importance of Cooperative Society and advised them to opt for Self help groups.

He said with the help of SHG, members can easily get loan assistance from ANS Cop Bank or NABARD Bank, without mortgaging properties or any kind of securities for developing or establishing small business like poultry, piggery, pickle making etc.

It is not at all easy to get a job in Govt departments or in any business house in this era, said Sharma. But in case SHGs are formed, members can get easy loan assistance to run or establish their own business.

The Chairman also informed that Cooperative Union has been imparting training in beautician course, fashion designing, tailoring and computer courses at a very nominal fee from to enable unemployed youths to start their own businesses.

In his welcome speech, the Chairman of the Bharati Service Cooperative Society, Shri Ajay Das explained that the society was established in the year 1968 which was later registered in 1995 by the then Chairman of the Society Late Amar Das with a motive to help the people of rural areas.  The Society has issued Kishan Credit Cards to 23 farmers for Rs. 23 lakh rupees and it has a target to issue 100 Kishan cards @ Rs. 1 lakh each. Das also informed that farmers can obtain loan against their Kishan Credit Cards @ 7% interest. 

Among the other dignitaries present on the occasion were Smti Abala Samaddar, ZP Adhyaksha, Mohd Shafique, Pramukh, Ferrargunj Gram Panchayat,  Director of Surabhi, Shri Aboobacker, GS INTUC, Ghayas Meshak, Vice Chairman, ANSCU, Subramanyam, ANCOFED, Anant Rao, Director, ANS Cop Supply and Mktg fed. and other dignitaries were also present beside the local residents.
