Sri Vijaya Puram, June 5: Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA), launched on 9th June 2016 by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, aims to provide fixed-day, free, assured, comprehensive and quality antenatal care (ANC) services to all pregnant women, particularly those in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. PMSMA is held on 9th of every month, wherein all the essential maternal health services are provided at all health facilities. Essentially, these services are provided by the Medical Officer and Obstetrician.
As part of the nationwide celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) with the theme “10 Years of PMSMA: Safer Pregnancies, Healthier Mothers, Stronger India”, special screening activities will be organized across all health facilities on 9th June, 2026 to strengthen maternal healthcare services and ensure safe motherhood
The Ayushman Arogya Shivirs will be conducted throughout the islands with health officials who will identify, counsel, and mobilize eligible pregnant women, especially High-Risk Pregnancies (HRPs), to attend PMSMA sessions and avail comprehensive antenatal care services. In this regard, the services of consultation of Specialist, USG, blood investigations will be provided.
The observance aims to ensure quality antenatal care for every pregnant woman and early identification and management of high-risk pregnancies, thereby contributing to improved maternal and child health outcomes.
