Port Blair, June 28: The newly enacted laws-Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, and Bharatiya Sahkshya Adhiniyam 2023, will be enforced from July 1, 2024. To ensure its effective implementation, the Andaman & Nicobar Police have conducted awareness programs with the PRI members of South Andaman District.

A awareness program was held in the conference hall of MPOC Chatham under the chairmanship of Smti Varsha Sharma, IPS, DIGP (L&O)/PMF, A&N Police alongwith Smti Niharika Bhatt, IPS, SP (D) SA, Ms Shwetha K Sugathan, IPS, SP PMF and Shri Vikas Swami, IPS, SDPO (SA). During the meeting, the PRI members were informed about the introduction of Zero FIR, which can now be registered anywhere, irrespective of the location of the crime. Information regarding the occurrence of any offense can also be provided electronically. A free copy of the FIR is mandated to be provided to both victims of crime and accused individuals.

Port Blair, June 28: The Chairman, ANTCC Campaign Committee, Mr. TSG Bhasker has expressed his deep concern over the pathetic condition of public toilet in Kadamtala, Police Gate no. 15 and highlighted the absence of proper facilities available for the residents of A&N Islands and also for the tourists.

In a letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman, Bhasker stated that the public toilet at Kadamtala Gate no. 15 has not been cleaned for more than 4 months. He said that the floor was very dirty with mud and the urinal pots were filled with urine as the taps were not functioning.

Port Blair, June 28: The STOP Diarrhoea Campaign 2024 will be observed by Directorate of Health Services from 01st July 2024 to 31st August, 2024 with the aim of reducing the child death due to diarrhoea, with a two-month drive and co-packaging of ORS and zinc for children under five years of age. The campaign also includes extensive IEC through different platforms and collaboration across multiple sectors. The campaign’s 2024 slogan ‘Diarrhoea Ki Roktham, Safai Aur ORS Se Rakhen Apna Dhyaan’ highlights the significance of prevention, cleanliness, and appropriate treatment.

Port Blair, June 28: To mark the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, a rally was organized from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, South Andaman to Tiranga Park via National Memorial Cellular Jail on June 26. The rally was flagged off by the Superintendent of Police (CID), Shri Rajeev Ranjan, IPS.

A large number of Cadets/Officials NCC Army and Navel Wings, staff of IRCA, SA, and NAPDDR, participated in the rally, holding banners and placards illustrating the ill effect of substance abuse.
