Port Blair, Sept. 30: A one-day Training-cum-Seminar for Construction Cooperative Societies of Port Blair and Ferrargunj Tehsils was organized by the Cooperative Department in collaboration with the Andaman & Nicobar State Coop Union, Teylerabad today in the auditorium of Tagore Govt. College of Education. Nearly 50 members/board of directors from various construction cooperative societies/ officers/officials of the Cooperative Department attended the training.

Port Blair, Sept. 30: Together with the rest of the country, the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation will be celebrated on 2nd October, 2022 in A&N Islands too. The main function will be held at Gandhi Park at 8.15 am during which the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (RD) will pay floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. This will be followed by prayers ‘Vaishnav Jan to Tene Kahiye Je’ and Ramdhuns by teachers/students of Education Department. A two minutes; silence will also be observed on the occasion.

Port Blair, Sept. 30: Tagore Government College of Education, Port Blair observed Hindi Pakhwada from 14th September to 28th September, 2022. It began with a brief inaugural function on 14th September by lighting the lamp in the Seminar Gallery by the Principal, staff and trainees. On this occasion, the Principal in his inaugural address emphasized the significance of the official language Hindi and its acceptance by the Indian Constitution as an official language of India written in Devanagri script. He also mentioned the role of Kahnaiyalal Maniklal Munshi and Aiyangaar while accepting Hindi by the Indian Constitution as an official language. He stressed the use of Hindi in all official correspondence and requested the Hindi Department to conduct more programmes to promote the use of Hindi and declared various competitions during the pakhwada.

Port Blair, Sept. 30: Regional Station, Minicoy of ICAR-CIARI Port Blair, conducted “Field Day on Fodder cultivation (CO 5) under coconut plantation” for the tribal farmers of Minicoy on 29th September 2022. Speaking on the inaugural occasion, the Chief Guest Dr. Shrikant R. Tapdiya, the Deputy Collector of Minicoy expressed his happiness on the technology namely CO 5 fodder cultivation to enhance income of livestock farmer. A total of 12 participants from 5 villages i.e Rammedu, Funhilol, Boduathiri, Aloodi, and South Bandaram attended the field day in which they were exposed to fodder (CO 5 variety) cultivation under coconut plantation at the institute farm.

Port Blair, Sept. 30: Central Island Agricultural Research Institute Employees Welfare Association (CIARIEWA) of ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair today organized a farewell function to bid farewell to Shri. Derrick, Technical Officer of this Institute. He has served for more than 37 years in the Institute and retired on 30th September 2022 on attaining the age of superannuation.
