Port Blair, Aug 21: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to replace MV Galathia, which is being operated between Katchal and Kamorta, with a better ferry.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that he has been informed by the public of Katchal Island that MV Galathia Ferry, which is over four-decade old is currently in a state of disrepair and rust.

Discussed prospects for development of Tourism & Hospitality sector in A&N Islands and gave Impetus to direct flights to/from South East Asian Countries and Cruise Tourism.

Port Blair, Aug 21: Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee along with other leaders visited Tsunami Permanent Shelters and PBMC Workers’ colony at Brookshabad on 20th August, 2023. The party leaders met a number of residents of Tsunami Permanent Shelters and heard their grievances. He assured the residents of Tsunami Shelters that their problems will be brought to the notice of the authorities concerned.

Port Blair, Aug 21: A seminar on 'Andaman Nicobar Islands: Emerging Global Tourist Destination', under series of events commemorating India's G-20 presidency was held in the conference hall of the ZSI here on Aug 18, 2022. Organized by Akashvani, Port Blair, the seminar was attended by the Director, Tourism, Dr. Jatinder Sohal as special invitee. The seminar focused on exploring new avenues in the tourism sector of the Islands wherein prominent stakeholders expressed their views on various dimensions of the tourism.
